PLCopen Function Blocks for Motion Control released for comments as version 1.99 Gorichem, The Netherlands – June 8, 2010
The success of the PLCopen Motion Control started with the release of the first specification in November 2001. Feedback from both users and implementers resulted in an update in 2005, Version 1.1. Also in 2005 the first release of Part 2 – Extensions, was published. This part is an addition to Part 1 and not so much a stand alone document.

The recommendation document NE 130 “Betriebsbewährte Geräte für PLTSchutzeinrichtungen und vereinfachte SIL-Berechnung” was available only in German. Now the new NE 130 version (19.01.2010) “Proven-in-use”-devices for Safety Instrumented Systems and simplified SIL Calculation is available in bilingual version – German and English – and can be obtained from the NAMUR office.

OSHA Endorses ISA-84 Standards for Use in Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals Research Triangle Park, NC, USA
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has officially notified ISA that a three-part ISA series of standards may be used in achieving compliance with OSHA regulations pertaining to the prevention and mitigation of accidents involving hazardous chemicals.
IEC 61508 is a European standard IEC 61508 standard was published by CENELEC in December 2001 as EN 61508. All CENELEC member countries had to implement EN 61508 at national level by August 2002, either by publishing an identical national standard or by endorsement. Any conflicting national standards of CENELEC member countries have to be withdrawn by August 2004.
